View All County Ghosts

Often cited as Suffolk’s most haunted hotel. The best-known spirit is the 'Grey Lady', a tragic 19th-century maid or housekeeper who died of heartbreak. She roams the halls, particularly Room 15. Other phenomena include a foot-tickling ghost and the sound of a child.

Known Ghosts:

The Grey Lady of Lavenham, Mischievous Maid (Foot-Tickler), Unseen Child

The Grey Lady, in a grey or white gown with a melancholic expression, is seen in Room 15 and older wings, sometimes at the foot of beds or by windows. A nun once reported her feet being tickled. Sobbing sounds are heard from empty rooms. Faint music (music box or piano) is reported at night. Small items move, lights turn on, and curtains are found drawn open.
